Now I'm writing a version of the story which I wish was written out there or at least finished. If you like, I'll continue. Note: If you are a Carrie Fan and want more stories on her, go to CFAS (Carrie Fernandez Appreciation Society). It can easily be located on yahoo by searching Carrie Fernandez. (Previously. . .) "Let us feast tonight in preparation of the ordeal tomorrow. We would sleep better relaxed, then nervous of the upcoming event." Spoke Zander. Everyone nodding in agreement, they began walking to one of the more famous restaurants in the village. *Feast now my companions for this may be your last. For tomorrow. . .* With that thought, he gave a genuine smile for all to see. Those around him thought he was looking forward to the meal ahead, but how wrong they were. . . Chapter 16 * * * * * * * Confession * * * * * * * Dracula watched the sleeping Carrie, a faint smile adorning his face. He would find his eyes lingering at her neck at times, but never too long. As there was so much more to her than just that. He traced the soft curves of her cheek, mapping the smooth surface with more care than an artist working on a masterpiece. For it was so much more than just any masterpiece, as it was Carrie Fernandez. Her skin, smooth as the finest silk but twice as soft, glowed with the warmth of life as she lay there upon his lap serenely. He had not the time to admire it before, but now that he looked at her, she seemed much more beautiful than before, even if she was still a child. A vibrant young lady in the making. Her beautiful bluish hair flowed down her neck and across his lap in a river of luster strands, slightly shimmering with the ever flickering candle light. As she lay there dead to the world, she exuded an aura of peace which was missing when she was self aware. She was most stunning when she slept. Such a masterpiece she was, that no other could compare in his eyes. She was priceless, and that could not be compared. Her eyes were what captivated him the most. He'd find himself saying no matter how much he had already, they were what stirred his emotions. To bask in the sight of her eyes, it gave a feeling of familiarity that he and she were similar, entwined, opposite sides of the same coin. She reminded him of Lisa. . . Oh how he missed her so. She was the first to make him feel compassionate to the human race until the inevitable happened. Without her, he had lost his way, condemning the world once more. Now he felt those feelings surfacing once more as it did then. He had all but forgotten how to love, but now he had a second chance. But. . . Everything had an end. Death would one day come for her as it did she, regardless if he were a god or not. Even his friend Death could not change this rule of nature. He who made it his job to make sure mortals were dead in the end. Even if he did nothing to one day claim her soul, did not alleviate the cold chill of knowing, that his very existence allowed things to live and die. To have befriended death was a blessing, but yet how could he ask of him what he could not do? Everything had an end. Death was the enforcer. Even if he were to die, or never again bore the mantle, someone else would. Even if he were to kill Death, how long before he returned and claimed the souls of those due? Like him, he was eternal. People would continue to live and die, the same fate facing them since the beginning of time, regardless of his tampering. Regardless of Death's tampering. His very existence allowed things to live and die. Yet he could not spare the life of one, who was overdue. It was what he represented that allowed such things as nature to go on. He had neither the power to grant life, or grant death. He could claim ones soul by taking their life like so many heard of, but he had not the power to snap his fingers to alleviate it on whim. Their powers were great, but flawed. Never had they attained perfection. If they had, then the Belmont's would never have beaten them soundly in the last few centuries. Feeling the stirring on his lap, he looked back at she who was worth more to him than any world. He knew that now. It was pitiful that he had almost lost her, had lost her no more than a few hours ago before he realized how important she was. Recalling what she had felt back at the hill, she had mourned for one she had lost. Now he understood what she had felt to lose someone close. He cursed the fates! The fact that he had to save her from herself, weighed heavily upon his conscience. If it were not for his intervention, she would not have been sleeping her and alive now. She would have gone on sleeping in a totally different kind of slumber. The finale of its kind. The sleep which never ends. . . She was finally awakening. She could feel the soft comfy pillow beneath her. As her senses returned, she smelt the familiar smell of her body. She would need to bathe again. . . Hovering on the edges of her senses, was another scent. Not an unpleasant aroma, but it reeked with a tinge of death. The smell of a corpse. That woke her up rapidly, causing her to sit up immediately. She regretted it a moment later as her head complained from the sudden movement, still not recuperated from her recent state of mind. She raised her hands to her head, to stop the unpleasant feeling. Vision followed quickly after she recovered. Looking at the eyes of Dracula, she found herself shocked. Still as a statue, as blood drained from her face. Wrapping his toned arms around her delicately and cold to the touch, she found her heart pumping faster than normal. He would not waste anytime in showing what he felt. For time was his enemy, and he would cherish every last moment of it. Burying his face within her hair, he whispered in a plaintive tone. "Don't do anything so foolish again. . . Someone will worry. . . Someone will care. . . Someone will miss you. . ." A plea that called out to her heart in a way she had never experienced before. This was so sudden that she was speechless as she recorded and deciphered every word he spoke. "Me. . ." Attempting to get a better observation of his expression to tell if it was all just a sick lie, she stared deeply into the blue locks of Dracula's hair. The light was unable to shine where his face was, as he remained faceless. But what caught her attention was the slow drops of red liquid splattering on the bed from. . . his eyes. . . She couldn't believe it. She mustn't believe it! It couldn't be. . . It would be doomed to fail. She was mortal, and he was a vampire. It wasn't ethical and it would be wrong on so many levels. But she couldn't say anything! If he were to say those last few words. . . She didn't want to have wishful thinking. "I think I have fallen in love with you. . ." The silence. The air was void of all sound but her own breathing. She didn't understand it, but this was far from what she ever imagined in her wildest dreams. Maybe it was all for not. Maybe this was exactly that, a sickly disgusting dream that had come to taunt her. Face darkening, she spoke softly. "Is this some kind of dream?" A pause, as Dracula looked at her dark demeanor. "If it were. . . If this was but a dream. . . would you want to wake up?" he asked, plaintively, awaiting her answer breathlessly. Her eyes were still covered by the bangs of her hair. One could not tell what she was thinking as she sat there indescribable, unwavering, unmoving. Time seemed slow as she gave her answer to the question with only two possibilities. "No." With that, the tears she had been holding back, burst down her eyes anew. She embraced him for all she was worth, as he did the same while cradling her head. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she genuinely smiled as tears continued to roll down her eyes. No longer tears of sorrow, but tears of joy. * * * * * * * * * * End of Chapter 16 * * * * * * * * * * Authors Notes: I just wanted to add this lovey dovey scene into my story before the fight. Builds more character and I had been deciding upon a way for the two to fall in love. This was it. Somehow I got this idea after all the chapters I wrote with no actual long term plot whatsoever. I plot as I write. =P Next chapter, I'll be introducing the good guys.
