Castlevania: Dark Haven (Alternate Ending) I give credit to the people who created Castlevania's bad Carrie ending. Now I'm writing a version of the story which I wish was written out there or at least finished. If you like, I'll continue. Chapter 2 Hero's destiny "What did you say? Malus?" Carrie replied, hoping her ears were playing on her. He smiled back at her then with eyes unreadable. *I thought he looked a bit different. Maybe it was just my imagination.* The two continued to trudge through the thick forest of silence with Malus in the lead. She had recalled him saying he was from one of the local villages. The silence between them was very apparent now. The journey continued in relative silence as a word was not spoken. Both just enjoying each others company. It was not such a lonely walk when Carrie first arrived. Now, Malus was here with her. She felt a sense of completeness at last. Dracula was dead for another 100 years, but she quickly felt saddened that she could no longer return to the village which she once called home. Memories of the villagers calling the Fernandez family line monsters for only possessing a power which they did not have had them burnt at the stake. If they learned of her power or of who had defeated Dracula, what would they do to her? Would she suffer the same fate as well? Malus, noticing this, comforted her with his own delicate hand over hers, reassuring her to rest at ease. Just looking at his wonderful face made her shine with happiness once more. *If he is with me, I shall be happy.* So caught up in her little world that she did not notice that they had finally arrived as Malus stopped and turned around. "Well enough playing charades. It's time to pay your end of the bargain, as you have promised. Carrie." With arms held out as if presenting her to her new home. She looked up and saw the castle. Dracula's castle. An omen. Her intuition proved true. If only she had listened to that nagging voice at the back of her head. Taking out her rings, she took a defensive stance. Tears weld in her eyes as a whirlwind of emotion possessed them. Most dominantly, betrayal once more. "You monster! How could you lead me on! I shall vanquish you in the name of my family!" she shouted with such conviction, it leaved little doubt of its sincerity. But alas, as she sprinted and approached Malus, her body refused to follow what she ordered. Her body was not responding! "Tisk tisk. We made a contract, you are mine now. Feel honored that you may serve me and that you may live." "When did I ever make a contract with you?! I would never do such a thing with a monster like you!" was her reply. "When you promised me, that is when we made a binding contract. You will be mine for eternity and a day." with a smug smile, he returned to his true form. She continued to struggle, but it was no use. "Quick struggling, the binding contract will prevent you from harming me. You are no longer a threat to me. Come now, and embrace your fate!" Slowly she approached Dracula with much reluctance as her will battled the actions of her body. It was clear which side was the victor as she stood before Dracula's form. Bending over to eye level, he spoke. "Now be a good girl and stop this senseless fighting. You should be in my gratitude for sparing your life." Carrie spat at him. "I would welcome death! Before I would ever betray humanity! I would be lying to myself otherwise! Your evil sickens me!" Wiping the liquid away, Vlad backhanded her where she tumbled to the floor. A small trickle of blood escaped her mouth. As he approached her, he was stopped mid way by a lashing whip which emanated the sense of caution towards Dracula. Like it is with all tales, the hero arrived in the nick of time. A blond haired man wearing fur coat, with blond hair had descended into the fray from the castle gates. "Dracula! Your sins are beyond the grace of God! Your reign of terror shall end!" spoke Reinhardt Schneider while preparing for another attack. "A Belmont!" spat Vlad with venom and volume enough to wake the dead. *I can smell it in his blood. * "Are you alright miss?" Rein concerned spoke for Carrie's welfare over his shoulder. But yet, he kept his one eye upon the vampire before him. Sizing him up, as he did to him as well. "Yes. But I cannot aid you for he has put a curse upon me." "Do not worry milady. Leave it to me! I shall send him back to hell, where he belongs." With arms in the ready stance, he charged in a completed attack pattern with sword and whip used in more than 1 way acting as defense as well. Dracula scoffed at this, as he readied himself and his hands grew to a lengthy 4 feet claw like fingers. They were as lethal as they looked but served another purpose. As Rein swung his blade, it was met with a quick parry by his opponent's claws. Leaving no chance for an opening, he then swung out with his special whip which managed to nick Dracula as he took a risk lunging towards him. First blood was drawn. "You possess the bloody vampire killer, worm." Vlad retorted in a statement, as blood trickled down his pale face. That weapon was the curse to his kind. Made to kill vampires like the name it was given. The battle continued as this time, Dracula started fazing in and out of view while shooting hellish flames which charred the hero even though he blocked them with the flat of his sword. As Rein focused, he was able to see a pattern between locations of his opponent. He gave it a try and threw a cross at him while instantly after he threw his blade to the left with all his might, where he predicted him to go. "Your finished!" And with that shout, Dracula dwelled upon the meaning of his words, but realization dawned too late. Time seemed to slow as Dracula reappeared exactly there and cursed himself for his predictability, as it was too late to react. His mind may have seen it coming, but his body was not so fast to respond. With mighty speed, the sword plunged deep into Dracula's chest and he went on his knees with both hands grasping the hilt. Carrie released a sigh of relief. Rein walked over to Dracula as he slumped to the ground, like a corpse. It look of pain upon his face, but soon gone was that, and a calm expression remained. It was as if he had drifted to sleep, but would surely never wake up. It was the sleep which never ends. Death had become him. With a released breath which he didn't know he was holding, Rein spoke in relief "I have slay the Dark Lord. He is, no more." Looking at the still figure, he felt at ease. It was finally over. He turned his back and started walking back towards the young woman to give assistance. *Such simple minds, I have learned from my mistakes from the past.* And with that thought, Dracula threw open his bloodshot eyes while his cape came to life and pursued, wrapped around the surprised Rein's eye sight. Shocked was Carrie as her savior clawed desperately to return his vision and hope that the slowly ascending Lord would not recover in time to play the final blow. Just as soon as he ripped the cloth off his frame and returned his vision did he see Dracula in all his glory plunge his claw like arm into his chest and through his back. "I have you NOW!" Dracula responded as he embraced and admired the look of utter shock on his enemies face. "Know your place, human! Such primitive weapons cannot defeat me! Rest assured and ascend to heaven where you belong, BELMONT!" With a twist of his arm, Dracula encumbered his arm with intestines as he pulled free his claw-like hand. Rein dropped down in a puddle of his own blood defeated. "Damn you. Demon!" cried Carrie. Fresh blood was still dripping down Vlad's hand. Smirking, he looked unaffected by her outburst. "On a day like this, I crave for blood." Blood drained from the soaking wet Rein's face on the ground. *I have failed my ancestors. I'm sorry Rosa.* "Well, it's time to die. I've been starving lately. I hope you quench my thirst." And slowly Dracula descended upon the blonde mans neck with fangs showing in anticipation. A quick painless death ensued of Reinhardt as the last speckles of his life essence left him with nothing but a corpse of his former self. "Why? why must you be so evil?" in barely a whisper Carrie spoke. "It was not my fault that every century, his bloodline would be the ones chosen to hunt me down. It was his destiny. It was their fate to die by my hands. You can't win them all. I have not grown senile with age, but wiser." He shrugged. Carrie gave a thought about that, but was quickly blinded again by rage and then head held low in helplessness. Looking over the horizon, Dracula saw the sunrise quickly approaching upon them. He would have to make haste back into his coffin. It was not that he feared the sun, for he was relieved of that weakness all the other low class vampires which served under him had. But that did not stop the weakening of his dark powers if he were to stay out was not in his liking. Light and darkness just don't mix for him. "Come now, it's time to fulfill the contract." And with an arm extended towards her, he smiled. End of Chapter 2
