Now I'm writing a version of the story which I wish was written out there or at least finished. If you like, I'll continue. Note: If you are a Carrie Fan and want more stories on her, go to CFAS (Carrie Fernandez Appreciation Society). It can easily be located on yahoo by searching Carrie Fernandez. (Previously. . .) [*She was the first to perish. do not think it will not end here, as your path is bathed in blood. The more you spill, the closer you'll come to realizing your goal. It is not so simple. . .*] The pain was strong, every time Dracula would try to defy that voice. It was controlling him, manipulating him. Torturing his newly existing sanity, and restoring him back to his heritage. Carrie was no longer here to prevent it. . . Devilishly he hauled himself up after a long motionless pause. Smiling sinisterly, he awaited the visitors to approach and meet their fate in his awaiting hands. . . They may not have been the first, but they also would not be the last to carve his path before him. Chuckling, he now waited for the mortals to present themselves if they deemed worthy enough. If not. . . He had other things scheduled to attend to. Actrise smiled from the dark corner. It seemed the Dark Lord was back. Chapter 20 * * * * * * Memories * * * * * * A void, devoid of all color but white. Nothing but her flowed mindlessly in its depth. She hugged her legs to her head as her thoughts wandered. To where, she didn't know. How it had happened was in question. She didn't even know why she was here. Just floating, timelessly in the void alone. All by herself. . . Nothing seemed to make any sense. As it was, she asked herself questioningly again and again. . . *I don't, understand. . .* *I don't, understand. . .* Never had she been so confused. She knew not of why it had all happened. It all lead back to Malus, Count Dracula. But why did this happen? Why did he. . . *I was waiting. . . Waiting such a long time. . . There was someone who believed in me. . . Someone who believed I could accomplish something. . . Someone which I found love in. . . So I could believe. . . Who are you?. . .* Looking up, she saw him staring back at her with crimson eyes complimenting an evil smile which fit perfectly together. They stared at each other before he plunged his hands into her. . . Slowly, consciousness returned to her. She awoke to feel the soft velvet blanket over her. She squirmed around slightly, annoyed she had gone to bed in her dress. As she looked around, recognition was lost to her. She could register painfully of injuries which she could not remember how. Getting up, she regretted it moments after as her head was still recuperating. A hand lay on her back helping her to slow her descent to the inviting bed below. "Easy there, your injured." A voice spoke. Wincing again, she found her head hurt quite a bit now that she felt it bandaged tightly. She should have known by the pressure it had presented. "You should be careful, this castle is roaming with monsters. Luckily we found you along the way." Spoke the voice again, which was definitely female. Opening her eyes slowly to adjust to the light, she stared wide eyed as she found herself in an unfamiliar room colored orange. Looking at her host, she saw her features as she stared back concerned for her, sitting on the right side of her bed. She had green hair, and a serene face. Her eyes seemed to swirl in blue almost too slow for an observer to see, but she could. How? Gathering herself, she nodded slowly after the pain subsided, she took in her unfamiliar surroundings. "What is this place?" "The Villa, in one of its many rooms." Spoke a voice to her right. "The Villa?. . ." Turning her head to face him, she saw a man dressed in red armor with a head guard standing by the door. He had his sword sheathed as he leaned upon its hilt mumbling in his own world. "The sooner we rid of Dracula, the sooner peace will reign." She found herself suddenly feeling angry for some reason before it disappeared as soon as it adorned her face. *Why did I get so mad all of a sudden?* "I'm Sean, that is Jun. May I ask what your name is?" He addressed her. Silence. . . "What's my name. . . I'm not sure. . ." her face fell. "I can't remember who I am. . ." As hard as she tried, she could not recall what it was. Lost in the void was it, and unable to redeem that name which was lost to her. Jun sadly stared back at the young girl. She could sympathize with her. She was suffering. "Amnesia. . ." Raising an eyebrow, Sean questioned with rapt interest. "This is a far too dangerous place to be wondering about. Do you remember how you got here? Anything at all?" Trying desperately to remember, she found it hard as perspiration dripped down her head. She could only recall bits and pieces as she tried so hard. A fuzzy image of a man with crimson eyes was all she could see. Who it was, she could only guess. It disappeared from her right after, as out of sight, out of mind. Forgotten in a fog of confusion. The shock was clearly seen in the widening of her eyes. "I don't remember anything. Why I'm here, how I got here, who I am. . . Not even my name. . . nothing. . . nothing. . ." she stared at nothing, as she found nothing of her past. As hard as she tried, she could not remember the answer to any of the answers she should have known. "Take it easy on her, she needs to recover Sean." Jun retorted in a commanding tone from her seat. Feeling both ashamed and guilty, Sean waved his hands in defeat. Looking back at her patient, she asked. "So, what should we call you then?" Silence, as they all awaited the nameless to name herself. "Call me Carol. . ." "Alright Carol, it would be safer if you stuck with us. Maybe you might recall something through time. Do you know how to fight?" Taking only a moment to ponder, she knew by heart that she was capable of such tasks. Nodding her head in confirmation, the others caught her small gesture. "Okay, we'll wait till morning when your wounds patch themselves up enough without hindrance. Dracula can wait another day. . ." spoke Sean plainly, with an emotionless façade. Even though he had demonstrated none to his traveling companion Jun, she knew that he was itching to avenge the passing of Alex. Even though she was being swayed to her darker side, she found herself still in control enough not to make reckless actions. It would not reward them well if they were to wander in unprepared. Alex had paid the price in setting an example. She would be merciless when her fated battle would come. Her other self was yearning to show retribution. *Dracula. . . I feel as if I should know of him before. . . But where? . . .* A sudden hand resting upon her shoulders awoke her from her thoughts. Looking up the length of it, she found it was Jun. "Don't worry too much over your little head Carol. You should drink this to get your strength back, here." Offered the bowl of what she could examine as soup, Carol took it gratefully with her awaiting hands. "Yummy. . . Thank you. . ." she returned weakly. She was still weak from blood loss as her injuries were still quite fresh. She had been out not 3 hours ago. It was close to midnight, and the place was crawling with creatures at night. Which could be another reason why they would wait for her to recover other than her current predicament. She couldn't even take care of herself. . . She felt disappointed for some reason. Sipping slowly on the warm soup from a wooden spoon, she finished in good time. Jun put them away without a word, before tucking her in. She found herself somehow able to smile even when things seemed so gloomy. She had always wanted a child, and wondered if when she finally settled down, she'd have one as innocent and obedient as the one before her. If parenting left such a lovely feeling, maybe she'd one day have one of her own. . . with. . . Quickly slapping herself for the direction her thoughts wandered, she quickly scanned around for anyone who would have noticed. Checking no one was looking at her, especially him, she regained her composure. It was bad to exploit such things, as it would damage her already infamous reputation. She was happy the way it was. "You should rest now, to regain your strength for tomorrow morning." She commented as she performed the actions of making sure Carol was tucked in comfortably. "Don't worry about them demons, I'll stand guard tonight. None of them are coming in through this door." Sean appraised himself shamelessly from his location while tapping on the wooden frame just incase they didn't get what he meant. "Oh sure we'll rest easy, with big and strong Sean keeping guard. Right Carol?" Jun commented dripping with sarcasm with arms crossed. Giggling at that, she found herself right at home. Before Jun called in for the night, she found one more thing to comment on. With her back turned, she spoke over her shoulder. "One more thing Seany. . . Don't think you have the privilege to watch over us girls with your eyes." He face faulted. "I w-wouldn't do t-that!" he stumbled. Putting her right index finger at her lips pondering, she quickly replied. "Well. . . Make sure your eyes don't wander farther than that door, okay?" Nodding almost too sincere to see reluctance, they left it at that. Taking one last look at her two new friends, she found herself assured enough to sleep peacefully through the night without worries. It took her a while before she slept, as that man in her vision would now and then plague her mind. Could it mean something? * * * * * * * * * * End of Chapter 20 * * * * * * * * * * Authors Notes: Taking my time writing. Maybe three to four chapters to go before I conclude this story.
