Now I'm writing a version of the story which I wish was written out there or at least finished. If you like, I'll continue. (Previously. . .) As he looked down upon her and coughed in his hand, she followed his gaze to give him a piece of her mind on whatever he was looking at. That would show him her displeasure if she were to oppose whatever ideas he was brewing. She found out that she was still naked, once more. Chapter 5 * * * * * * * * * * The denouement * * * * * * * * * * Dracula was not prepared as Carrie launched one of her orbs at him which he took in the heart. A pained look appeared, but quickly faded as he walked away and the wound sealed shut. Carrie was surprised that it had actually succeeded to say the least. It may have been because she had not intentionally wanted to harm Dracula, but a natural reflex like a slap or such the contract did not account for. (That night) Things were going pretty normal as normal goes for the Dark Lord. He was once more sitting in his throne, with one leg crossed over his lap, and a delicate grasp upon a fine wine glass filled with blood. Like a tyrant he grew impatient when his minions were late in reporting news of the nearby towns. Angering the lord was the quickest way to die. "Where does the time go by? So much to do, but I may be patient. Time is after all, by my side. Too bad death won't be here for another week or so thanks to the Belmont. What to do? What to do?" Carrie meanwhile was just around the corner and hiding behind a pole supporting the humongous ceiling above. She'd have her revenge alright after the stunt he pulled, one way or another. Light coughing was heard then, which shook her out of her thoughts, as she wondered what was happening. Taking a quick peek out from her place, she saw Dracula coughing blood into his hands. Disgusted by it, he flicked it down, staining the blood red carpet below. Quite angered was he now. "Blast it, that girl. . . She has wounded me far greater than I had anticipated." With that, he crushed the wine glass in his left hand, and threw the contents on the floor below. He was like a king without followers right now. All those working for him either did so in fear to avoid his wrath, or rarer, served a purpose or befriended him with the same line of thoughts he had. He had sensed the presence of another in the mists of his heightened senses. The one it belonged to, he could only guess. "I shall die alone again, won't I? Is this your answer to me? Is the sins I have committed so great, that you would condemn me to this?!" He shouted, fuelled with uncontrolled anger while looking up, as if he were challenging the gods themselves. Coughing more of his crimson liquid of life out, he stood dignified. "Am I to sleep another century, and then another, and another forever, until the day I truly perish that you would deny me my divine right to rule over the pestilence which is human?! To clear the filth of this world of its germs is all I want. You have stolen away my happiness with time before, as I remain ageless and left wanting." With that, Dracula clenched his fists tightly, drawing blood. A whirlwind of emotion stirred within him as he blamed the gods themselves for siding with the humans, when he was a god himself. Was his wishes so wrong to be fulfilled? Facing towards where Carrie hid, he beckoned her with a challenging hand gesture towards her as he spoke. "It is unbecoming of you to hide in the shadows like the creatures of the night." With that, he collapsed on his knees coughing. Now the ultimate end he knew. The denouement. The ultimate conclusion was finally being played out before him. One thought strayed into Carries mind then. *You should end his life now, in his moment of weakness. Only if he dies, will you be set free.* Stepping out of the shadows which once cloaked her features, she entered the candle light which revealed her presence to Dracula at the corner of his eyes. She lunged a razor ring at him as he batted it aside with his free hand, but not escaped unscathed. A small gash appeared on the arm which he blocked with. Struggling, he managed to stand up towering over her, facing her with a sarcastic sense of respect as she took a step back and prepared herself. This was the chance she had been waiting for. She had been suspecting if the earlier shot was a one time thing. A smug look appeared on his face as he stood there now. "I see you have uncovered the secret behind the binding contract. It only lasts in effect until you unconsciously harm me." With that, he firmed his cloak, brushed his injured arm and shoulders while he unsnapped his cape. She had to allude herself from thinking of the few moments of bliss they shared to finish the task at hand. It would only distract her from the task at hand. With an emotionless façade on, she charged with a burst of speed with arms ready. A small gust of wind was felt by the intensity as she had taken off. Dracula intercepted her mid way with claws bared. As she swung left, and right, and shooting orbs, her nemesis seemed to match her pace, but his dark power seemed greatly decreased, and was forced on the defensive. After bashing at Dracula's guard for what seemed like minutes, she relented. Uncrossing his forearms, what was left of them, he stood once more, but staggered, baring fangs. "So, it has finally come to this? My intuition proved true. You will not stay by my side now? And. . . Forever?" A sad look plastered upon his rugged features. The look of a sad man. With a forced smile he accepted the silence, as his fate decided. "So be it. Now is the time your chance to defeat me. If you spare me now, the contract will be restored in full if I regain my strength. You do not wish to be trapped, do you?" he smirked, as he watched her emotions play out. Heart aching was it to watch the man before her miserable. She should be feeling no guilt in seeing him suffer, but she did. Though some would call her stupid, and many would call her naïve, for she did not understand what needed to be done for she was too young. She was at heart. too innocent for this cruel world. As the vampire dropped to his knees as his wounds claimed him, he was held up by the one he thought would forsaken him. Carrie was hugging him for all she was worth. Maybe it was a mistake to let him live, but she did not care. She couldn't live with herself feeling a sense of guilt she could have prevented from happening. "I'm sorry." She whispered. As Dracula looked up, a tear made its way down her cheek. It was beautiful. *Is she shedding tears for me?* With that, regret of what could have been filled his heart. With strain, he gave the last words with what strength he could muster. "I am dieing now, Carrie. . . Place me in my coffin. Where I may slumber once more. . ." * * * * * * * * * * End of Chapter 5 * * * * * * * * * * Author Notes: This could be the ending, but I think I should continue it. I don't like how people leave people wanting more, even though it is smart and leaves a memorable story. So I'll find a way soon to make it so the story goes on =P
